Frankfurt, with its large towers of the old city wall still standing proudly, is a city steeped in history and at its heart is the Hauptwache square, where you can find the breath-taking Hauptwache building. Formerly the headquarters to the city’s Stadtwehr militia and prison, the beautiful baroque building has now laid down its weapons and turned into a delightful cafe.
