The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine route is one of the snowiest places in the world, and receives an annual average of 7m of snow and sometimes 20m,
about the height of a 10 story building. We will head to the highest point in the mountain “Murodo”, and experience what it’s like to be encompassed inside the 500m long Yuki no Otani (Wall of snow).
The Gassho Zukuri folk village in Shirakawa-go is located in the Shogawa river valley 500m above sea level. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the two major things to do are either taking a nice stroll in the village or stand on the nearby observatory and enjoy the view. By wondering in the village, you wil not onlly get a glimpse on the lifestyle of the villagers, but also to be embraced by the mountains and rural pastures. If you want to view the village from a distance, then stand on the nearby observatory platform and enjoy the village and its harmony with nature.
